Marshall “Marty” Wilde is a native of Eugene, Oregon. He graduated from the University of Maryland in 1994 at age 19 with a degree in Astronomy and 1997 from the University of Oregon School of Law. He promptly entered active duty with the United States Air Force, serving in Alaska and Texas. While on active duty, he led his office to win a national award for best legal assistance program in the US military, primarily for innovative approaches to family law. He also served as the first hospital counsel for the Joint DoD/VA Medical Center in Anchorage, and then for the largest Air Force Medical Center in the world. While in Alaska, he also served as Chief of Environmental Law, assisting in a number of large projects, including the renegotiation of the base Environmental Investment Agreement with the EPA, rerouting the Alaska Railroad through base to enable commuter rail service, and the bed down environmental study for the F-22 fighter.

After leaving active duty, Marty completed a LLM in Health Law, at the University of Houston Law Center. He went on to practice in family and criminal law in San Angelo, Texas, where his wife was stationed. While there, he won a conviction and 99 year sentence for a man who assaulted a family member, as well as becoming the first qualified advanced family mediator in the judicial district. 

While continuing his military service in the Air Force Reserves, he deployed to the Middle East in 2004. There, he prosecuted a two sexual assaults and an attempted poisoning in the war zone. He also assisted a deployed female airmen in successfully winning custody of her child back. He served in the Air Operations Center for Northern Command, defending America’s skies in 2006. In 2007, after transferring to the Oregon Air National Guard, he led his military legal office to win another national award for legal services to an Air National Guard wing. In 2008, he deployed again to Bosnia, serving as NATO Legal Advisor and assisting in operations leading the arrest of genocidal war criminal Radovan Karadzic. Also in his military capacity, he wrote the chapters on domestic operations and adverse actions for the definitive textbook on military law, and has authored law review articles on women’s rights in the military, liability of mental health providers, and victim’s rights.

Returning to Oregon in 2007, he served as a Deputy District Attorney in Linn County before moving back to Eugene in 2010. In addition to his work at Harris Law Group, he volunteers with Senior Law Service, the Stop Violence Against Women Project, and Lane County Legal Aid.  He is currently deployed to the Middle East until late 2011.

Marty focuses his practice on family law and estate planning. With several years of experience in mediation and training in collaborative law, Marty firmly believes that people of good faith can successfully find a positive future with the help of legal professionals. However, when the opposing party refuses to accept reality or negotiate in good faith, Marty provides a wealth of litigation experience and zealous advocacy to see the matter successfully through court.
